Sony VAIO: Is it worth it???

When you go out to buy a new computer, what do you look for? Is it the specs or reliability. If its reliability, you would go for big brands like a SONY or a HP or a DELL. But when you select the specs for your computer and then compare the prices, you will find a SONY much costlier, some $500 more than a dell and $200 more than a hp. So is it really worth spending extra for a SONY when you still can get the same power with a dell or a hp.

Neither sony nor dell make the components of the computer they build, they just assemble them made by other manufacturers. But this never means they all are the same. The arcitecture of the laptop is a key factor to its performance. For instance, the positoning of the processor fan can do wonders if placed properly as it would cool the processor quick and give better performance. When it comes to sony, it has much better architecture and development but mind it, dell hp and other leading brands are not far behind.

The other thing which we look for is tech support. All the three have good tech support, cause if they dont, they'll need to quit making computers. But the problem with sony is that it would stop its tech support when u change ur OS. This means that if u own a sony vaio and switch from xp to vista and cant find its compatible drivers, then forget that sony will ever help you find them.

From my point of view, if u have to buy a 14" or 15" notebook, then spending extra bux on a sony is not wise as there is not much difference in the performance compared to other cheaper brands. But when it comes to the ultra-lite 12" notebooks then a integration is to another level and believe me SONY is the master. So if want it ultra-lite go for sony VAIO cause its really worth it. So when you go out to buy a computer, brand will tempt you, but make sure that you make a wise decision
